Practice Medicine in Montana!
To meet the need of a shortage of physicians in Montana, a new residency program was established in 1995. The Montana Family Medicine Residency is presently interviewing applicants for its twelfth class of six residents. Interviews will be held in the fall and winter, with entry into the program during the summer.
University of Washington Affiliation
The Montana Residency Program is one of the sixteen WWAMI residency programs affiliated with the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Washington. The University provides this program with help in faculty development, curriculum development, teaching resources, and evaluation. Full and part-time faculty members hold academic appointments at the University of Washington. U.S. News and World Report has consistently ranked The University of Washington among the top medical schools in the nation in Family and Rural Medicine.
National Health Service Corps SEARCH Program Students and Residents Experiences and Rotations in Community Health (SEARCH) program is now located with the Montana Family Medicine Residency. Montana NHSC SEARCH is funded by the National Health Service Corps, administered by the Montana Primary Care Office in the Dept. of Public Health & Human Services, and operated by the Montana Family Practice Residency based in Billings. Experience Montana
Experience Montana’s rural and outdoor lifestyle during residency! You’ll live and work under the Big Sky—pure water, clean air, days of sunshine, no traffic jams, a healthy and safe environment for families. Bring your fly rod, backpack and skis! You’ll find something to look forward to each season. Montana offers a quality of life that is one of the best kept secrets!
The program allows you and your family the opportunity to live and work in rural communities before committing to the practice of rural medicine.
Explore the Possibilities of Rural Medicine
Residents have well established physicians as role models who are successful and committed to practicing in rural areas. There are many
opportunities to do rotations throughout the state, to get experience in
many diverse, rural settings.
